but the "necessary" backpressure thing drives me nuts and I didn't feel like making another message. My point about lean is that even lean-running engines are still running stoichiometrically-rich, because combustion isn't perfect and you need the cooling, so you just can't run 15 or 16:1 (unfortunately). This is why "lean" means more power. In actuality, stoich is peak power, and going lean or rich of it will drop power. Since "lean" means "on the lean side of rich", leaner means less excess fuel and closer to stoich, hence more power.
